What’s a GFCI Outlet and When Should You Replace One?

GFCI outlets (Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters) protect against electrical shock and are required in kitchens, bathrooms, and outdoor areas.
Signs it needs replacing:
It won’t reset.
It trips frequently.
There’s visible damage.
How to replace it:
Turn off power at the breaker.
Remove the outlet cover and unscrew the outlet.
Use a voltage tester to confirm the power is off.
Note wire placement and match it on the new outlet.
Screw in and reattach cover.
Turn power back on and press RESET.
